The Place Where Sports and Statistics Come Together
About the Blog
The use of sports analytics in the professional sports world has become a growing trend since the release of MoneyBall by Michael Lewis (2011), which recounted the story and success of the Oakland Athletics Baseball Club and its use of sports analytics in making decisions and focused on team improvement.
Now, almost every professional sports team has adopted these practices and has dedicated a section of their organization to specialists in analytics. That said, the practice is not universal among all sports and teams.
This blog focuses on the rising use of sports analytics in professional sports to make decisions. I dive into how sports analytics can be used to help make decisions on game day, in practice, and in the front office.
My goal is to display the benefits of utilizing sports analytics in the decision-making process. This is so that people that are not familiar with the field can see some of the amazing work that can be done using data. The blog is also targeted at managers managers of professional sports teams that have not adopted an analytics process and advocates implementing it. This could lead to team and overall league success.
